On this trip, I got to meet up with another Sparker, DH & I were happy we were able to spend 3 days with George & Lynda in the Rapid City area and that they were willing to drive from ND to meet up with us.

While in the area, one of the places we visited was Custer State Park

Myself & Lynda at Crazy Horse Memorial

Needles Eye Tunnel-several years ago (when we were still rv'ing) we drove our 2 1/2 ton truck thru here and prayed we didn't get stuck. Talked to a man this time who told us he is a tow truck driver and you would not believe how many times they are dispatched to get rv's out that tried it and could not make it!

This is a better look at the actual tunnel that one drives thru

Group photo at Mt. Rushmore

George talking to one of the donkeys in Custer-several were along the road and many tourists were there petting them and some were feeding them. They know how to get the attention that is for sure.

Just the guys at Mt. Rushmore

Beautiful lake we saw while in Custer State Park

Hope this gives all of you a glimpse of some of the awesome sights we saw in the Rapid City, SD area

Visiting my home state. The Black Hills are always warmer than we are and have less snow.

We went to Mt. Rushmore. My husband told my daughter that he wanted to go to "Head Mountain." We took our son-in-law's parents to our daughter's wedding when our daughter married him. His parents lived in Kansas and in Nebraska, she told me she forgot to pack money. We ended up paying for their food, lodging, and the cost of visiting Mt. Rushmore. She wanted to go to see the Crazy Horse Memorial and my husband stopped at the entrance and told her to pay for us to get in and she said she didn't have the money. He turned the car around and we left, but we could see the carving into the mountain. She demanded to be taken there. When we dropped them off at their house in Kansas after the wedding, I e-mailed her and told her I was done with her an her husband. They never offered to pay us back. I wasn't going to be burned by them ever again.
