I Did It - I Did It

On January 1st, 2016, I set a goal for myself to walk at least 1 mile every day on top of my normal steps. Guess what? I DID IT !!!!!

34.38 miles. 483 minutes (8 hours 5 minutes)

This wasn't an easy task for me. I had to plan on getting in that mile. I am not a 4:30-5:00 a.m. person and I chose to use my lunch break reading a good book; therefore I walk at night. There were nights that I was worn out and just wanted to crash when I got home. The one night I thought there was no way I could get in the mile, I felt so guilty that at 8:30 I was headed to the park.

My family thinks I'm crazy, I'm sure. We ate supper at the diner in town a couple of nights. One night I walked home (1.24 miles) and one night I got a head start and had them order for me. Several nights I threw supper in the oven and headed out while it cooked. I don't know how many times I walked to and from the high school (1.1 miles). On the way home from high school basketball games, I had the family drop me off at the end of Main Street and Hwy 40 so I could get in that mile.

I normally would never walk outside in January; telling myself is was just too cold. While we have been blessed with relatively warm weather, there were several nights that it was darn cold!! But, not so cold that I couldn't walk clothed in my heavy, oversized sweatshirt. My hubby could not believe I wanted out of the car the other night when the thermometer said 16 degrees. I assured him the Buick had dyslexia and it was really 61 degrees outside (not).

So here is to another 28 days of walking that mile plus a 28 day plank workout. Oh and the weight thing -- down 6# and some inches!
