The sun finally came out today! Was a nice day all in all. Made a trip to Whole Foods for some olive oil and was hoping to find a big bag of course ground yellow corn meal but no such luck. Apparently they've discontinued the corn meal I had gotten there last time. So will just have to take a good look around my local grocery stores.
For breakfast today had the regular coffee and milk. I've switched to whole milk because I noticed that 2% has vitamin A palmitate added to it. In my quest to consume as clean and whole as I can afford to lead to the switch. So I've gone from skim to 2% to whole, only time will tell how this will work out. What I don't understand is why do these food companies keep on putting stuff into our food, don't mess around with it, just give it to me how it was meant to be. Ok well pasteurization I can see, it does have it's benefits. Sad though that I'll never have the type of milk my great-grandmother had, even found a recipe from her that called to top milk. Top milk is what you find in between milk and cream, after you've skimmed the cream off but before you get to the milk. It has a higher fat content than milk but a lower fat content of half and half. Ok I'm getting off subject, this is really for another blog.
So along with my coffee I made baked pumpkin oatmeal. I'm thinking next time I make it though I need to lay off on the liquids the recipe called for. I took out the sugar and 1 of the 2 cups of milk and replaced it with water, on top of the 2.5 cups of water it already called for. Things to note for next time I make it.
Missed lunch, really need to get better at eating during the day, it's a struggle.
Dinner I made tilapia piccata. What's not to love with a tillapia fillet? A little butter, a little white wine, a little lemon, some capers. Sign me up any day for that dish. But that's all I had for dinner, no vegetables, no carbohydrates, no grain, no starch. I'm really bad with dinner, unless I'm making a pasta or rice/grain dish I generally only just have a protein, meat or seafood and that's it. I wonder if that's bad. Am I hindering myself by not having a well rounded dinner? Am I helping myself? I do think that I probably need to start adding sides to my dinners, so it's something I'll have to work on.
After dinner it was so sunny out, finally got to walk Hally. I wanted to walk her 3x a day a week for all of 2016 but I know I'm going to have weeks like this one where it will be rainy and just not conducive to walking her. So if I walk her tomorrow I'm going to check this as a week accomplished since I did do 2 exercise videos this week.
