My Granddaughter Tackles Alopecia & Shaves Her Head!
Thursday, January 28, 2016
My youngest GD, Sydney, has been suffering from alopecia for years. This terrible auto-immune syndrome causes all hair on your head to fall out. You end up with no eyebrows, no eyelashes and very little hair on your head.
Sydney decided long ago to just live with it, though she does get treatments from her medical specialist monthly. Lately she lost a LOT of hair but still said she would go to school "as myself". She's an incredibly brave young lady.
Recently her mom and dad encourage her to try a wig, which she could wear or not, as she chose on a daily basis. She here she is!

Sydney BALD! Not bad, lol. Better than I would look!

Those of us who are grown and have our hair can never imagine what it's like for all the young women who suffer from this disease.
As time goes by I think Syd will add makeup for her brows and lashes and complete the lovely picture of her external self, which can never match the beauty she has within.
Syd will be 13 in March.
