Glass of water as a gastric band.

So today when I was eating lunch I realised that I was eating too fast and not really noticing what I was eating. I realised that if I slowed down my eating I would probably eat less and still feel full so I decided to experiment.

It really started with thinking about getting a gastric band and wondering how long it would take me to save for it. I thought "well perhaps I can work on losing weight until I can afford one and maybe I won't actually need one." So I thought about how to do it given my current situation. I decided to give myself an artificial gastric band by drinking water to fill myself up a bit before I eat and by eating much slower ... as if I had a gastric band. After all I would have to slow down my eating if I got one so I might as well practice before hand.

So today I drank a glass of water before I started lunch then counted to 10 between each mouthful I ate. I also made sure that I chewed it for longer the way gastric band patients have to.

I stopped half way through my meal and had another glass of water and counted to 50 before I started eating again. It worked for this meal at least. I only just got through my sandwich and was full without wanting anything else.

I am going to try it again at dinner and see if it still works. I will keep blogging as I experiment and let you all know how it works over time.
