Suck it up, Buttercup.

Tuesday, January 26, 2016

Yeah, yeah, I'm a whiner. Seriously, I had Oreos and potato chips for dinner last night. Thank goodness I can find the humor in it today.

So what's going well?
* New semester started today, and my 8th-grade classes are off to a lovely start! In fact, as I compare to the noise level and work completion occurring in the other classes, I'm feeling very solid that my students are getting a top-notch, valuable, respectful experience.
* Family is healthy and happy. One is behind on homework; life lesson on missing recess probably occurred today.

What's not going well?
* Lack of a plan for meals and workouts is leading to binge-eating and laziness.

The coach side of me considers and responds, "Looks like you'll need some me-time each evening to plan out the next day. Is that feasible?"

Lazy-me: Ugh...

Coach-me: Let's start with tonight. What's for dinner?

Lazy-me: Ummm....

Coach-me: You have spaghetti fixings ready -- and salad fixings as well! That's set. Now, how about the workout?

Lazy-me: Yeah, well...I'm waiting for Season 4 of Breaking Bad to come in to the library...

Coach-me: Luckily, it's pretty warm in Wisconsin right now. I bet that German Shepherd of yours would like a walk. You can go right after work and be done before dinner.

Lazy-me: Sigh....fine....

See, that's all I need. A split personality internal coach!

Coach Self - yes, that sounds great. I'm sure I've got one somewhere too but I might have buried her in a pile of laundry and paperwork that are waiting for Lazy Self to deal with!

    Enjoy your dog walking.

"Suck it up Buttercup". I'm going to steal that.
Dogs are great for making you get out and walk. That's an exercise partner who never says "no" to a walk. The thing is, once you eat right and take that walk, you feel more like doing it again. But I can really relate. Planning meals a week at a time in advance is helpful. Also, having easy to grab healthy foods for emergencies is necessary. The "lazy me" will grab the first thing I see when I'm hungry. Pre-cut carrots or a boiled egg or a chocolate bar.
Glad you have a coach self to help you. I'll have to get one of those...
