Keep your face to the sunshine

Monday, January 25, 2016

Keep your face always towards the sunshine, and shadows will fall behind you.

Is there any reason NOT to do this? In every single aspect of our lives, really.

I go to the hospital tomorrow morning. Everyone around me seems to be more concerned than I am. I KNOW I need to get this done, and know it is a step towards a better, less painful future. I want to get back to swimming, yoga and pilates without pain, and want to really start walking every day. I love those goals, and am delighted that they are the first things that came to my mind!!

Having a knee replaced isn't a walk in the park. It requires a BIG opening right down the center of your knee, about 10 inches long. (If you see anyone with a scar down the center of their knee, they PROBABLY got a knee replaced...I know, I have two of those so far.) The recovery from the cut, through skin and muscle is the most difficult part of the surgery, really. Everything else is about learning how to deal with the new knee.

Because my darling Daughter, and BF both work full-time, I realized that they would not be here to really help me after the hospital, so I am going to a care center for about a week. I am bringing my laptop and my Kindle, and will, hopefully blog Wednesday from the hospital. (More goals!!)

If we think positively every day, keep our faces to our sunshine, keep those shadows from entering our heads, it is a huge step towards success. Who knows what caused us to be overweight in the first place...complacency, self-doubt, and maybe a little genetics thrown in the mix? Regardless, we all have the capability of finding our own sunshine, and leaving those personal shadows in the dust.

I thank you all for your Sparkfriendship. I am going to be stronger, more fit, and my face will ALWAYS face the sunshine.

Spark on.
