Assuming I'd have WLS
Monday, January 25, 2016
At some point I assumed I would go through with weight loss surgery. I was still looking for reasons not to; it's such a drastic irreversible step!
So I kept reading kindle books and blog on what others have experienced. Of course I also assumed that most of these were written by people having good luck with WLS. Those that were not successful would hardly publish or blog about failure or bad experiences, right? More reason to stay open minded.
I attended the mandatory appointments with my surgeon, a dietician, and had my psych eval. I started a binder of the huge amount of handouts and pamphlets and forms. I started a file to save all the links to websites that would be good for information, support and recipes. I started boards on Pinterest for info and recipes. Ok, I spent way too much time on Pinterest! :-)
Lastly I contacted my health insurance to be sure the WLS would be covered, and I saw my own doctor to get her blessing, and a letter of medical necessity.
Remarkably, everything went smoothly. I hadn't been this hopeful in a long time. I guess I was actually going to do this!
