Still whining...

...about the cold weather. We have had a postcard weekend - sun and snow makes the landscape stunningly beautiful, but - 20 C is too low for my house, I have problems keeping it warm enough inside. Should not be complaining, the EU-migrants that camps in the city lives in caravans without electricity, my life is luxury compared... I think 2010 was th last time we had a cold january like this, last winter I did not have to sovel snow one time so I should not complain, it will pass.
But all my grown up life january has been a time where I wait for the cold streak to go away - knowing full well that it can return. It is not until midst february that one can start hoping every time the cold goes away, it will not be back this year.

The cat goes outside daily but only for an hour or so, the dog has to wear a blanket but has a hard time to move anyway because his paws hurts, I refuse to get shoes for him for the moment, he hates the blanket and I canĀ“t imagine how he would react to shoes...

My kitchen table is filled with cookbooks, my ambition was to find some new souprecipes and then plan my foof for upcoming week. I never got around to do it yesterday.

Wii dancing and juggling is my only exercise for the moment.

Daughter is coming tonight, it is information day at the high school she wants to attend tomorrow. I am starting to believe that she will move here this summer, it will be a big change for both of us to start living together, we have not done that for seven years... I wnat to work harder with attaining good habits, I blogged about it this autumn, my ambition failed rather quickly, but I am still making my bed every morning so that stuck... during january I am working with shining my sink every evening and decluttering ten minutes a day, I can see some progress although it is not as good as I want it to be, I blame the cold house, I want to cocoon in blankets instead of being active and doing things.

I think I will buy some extra heaters today - it will be worth the extra cost on my electricity bill...

It's great that your bed-making habit has stuck. I've been studying how to make good habits work for me and I thought your autumn habit project was interesting. I'm working to stick with just a few smart habits that work for me.

I hope buying additional heaters will keep you comfortable. I understand not investing in shoes for doggy. My neighbor puts boots on his dog when the temperature drops below 50F -- poor doggy!

I am with you there, staying warm is important. I hate being cold.
I feel for you, have seen some pix from friends and relatives in Sweden, too much snow and way too cold.
Stay warm as much as you can. emoticon

Cold here too! I dress in layers and that helps. RE: doggy's feet. When I was into making boots for Sugar a couple of years ago I also discovered that the Toes cut from old heavy socks (for her, mid foot of the sock between the toe stitching and the heel_ made a fine dry weather protection. Slip them on her feet and fastened with a velcro strip. Would work with any kind of lace tacked at one spot with a few stitches so it can be tied on and not slip.

As for the weather, years have taught you that it is what it is. The positives are it's killing germs and bugs we don't want to deal with when the weather does warm.
Sharing my favorite reminders; I too need to review them regularly to stay positive and that's why I keep them on my page:

    History is NOT destiny!
-A goal without a plan is just a WISH.!
-Busy is NOT the same as active!
    -If nothing changes, NOTHING CHANGES!
-Where your mind goes, energy flows; keep it positive!

Simple but not easy my friend. You are greater than you are crediting yourself. Hugs.

We have -3 C here and that is quite cold for me! So -20 would be a huge challenge.

I think someone probably already suggested to put grease (don't know the name in English, a special kind of grease) on the dog's paws? Hope it recovers soon!
