Biggest Loser at work

We are having our annual Biggest Loser contest at work. Three months to lose, and if you lose 10#, you get $50, 20# is $100, and I think 30# is $300. Early Feb to early May.
My dilemma is, I participated in 2013, and let the contest get to me... I went off of my usual eating and exercise, which had gotten me an excruciatingly slow but healthy loss of about 1 pound per week for about 21 pounds total, 321 to 301.
Once I saw people doing crazy fad-type things to lose weight and win money, I started trying things too. I stopped losing, dropped out and derailed my original workout plan.
Since then I have gained and I'm at my highest weight ever.
Do you think I should participate to help restart my weight loss effort, or steer clear? Usually competition works very well to help motivate me and keep me accountable. I'm not sure what happened that time.
Any thoughts or advice?
