Oh My!

Monday, January 11, 2016

Yesterday my husband and I returned from a Caribbean cruise with our two daughters and son-in-law. We had a wonderful time! Warm, sunny days and lots of water! Absolutely perfect.

The best part, of course, was being with family for a week.

The worst part was seeing photographs of myself in a swim suit. Oh My! When I started going through the pictures we took last night, I was dismayed. I mean, I KNEW I'd gained a bunch of weight - when I was trying to lose, not gain - but oh gosh, what a rude awakening to see those photos.

So, today we begin yet again. I am still working out for a minimum of 30 minutes every day - today is day 261! I even made sure I worked out every day on the cruise and didn't gain any weight, despite all the good food.

I will continue with the workouts, and next week I have an appointment to begin strength training on Wednesdays and Fridays. But the fact remains: I eat TOO MUCH. And I eat a lot of junk food.

Not good.

So, here's to 2016 and a goal of 58 pounds lost. That won't make me skinny, but it will sure be a heck of a lot healthier than where I am currently at - and hopefully I won't be embarrassed when I see pictures of me in a swimsuit!

Don't feel bad I think we all have experienced looking at a picture realizing I have more than a few pounds to lose. You are not alone I am queen of the yoyo diet, but I'm here now and so are you and we are going to make this happen.

I know how you feel. A couple years ago when i went to the store for new jeans, i caught a glimpse of myself in a side view of the mirror. I didn't even recognize me! And now i see myself in pictures, just like you have described...motivation!

I think seeing ourselves from another lens shocks us. We can either beat ourselves over it or we can use it to fuel our fight to improve our lives. You've got the right mindset. Remember it's a marathon not a sprint. You can do it.
