One week in

On my weekly Saturday weigh in, I was down 5.3 from the week before. I am very happy with that progress. I know its water weight and I won't see numbers like that every week, but that first big loss always helps with the motivation going into week 2.

The 21 day challenge that I started with my coworker is spreading, too. There are a few other coworkers that have joined us so that's always fun. I really am not missing anything. I have not craved sweets at all, which is very strange for me. The skittles are still sitting on my desk untouched. I don't know if its the Shakeology shakes (since it has some chocolate in it and its like a milkshake to start my day) or if its cutting out all of the excess junk but its nice not to have really any cravings at all. There was at least one day last week that normally would have been a Marcos Pizza night but I managed to throw something together and stay on track. I do kind of miss our Friday night pizza ritual, but weigh in is on Saturday so that will need to change anyway. Once the 21 day challenge is over and I'm feeling more settled in I might be able to go back to that but for now it's gotta go.

We had the conversation in our group last night about "cheat meals" or bad days etc. I am a firm believer in the fact that you've gotta mix things up every once in a while and not totally deprive yourself, but I have to be really far into it before I can do that. I always have such trouble reigning it in after a meal or a day like that. Especially when I'm just gaining momentum.

So, today I am 10 days into the challenge (almost halfway) and I'm feeling pretty good. We will see what this week brings! It's a challenging week; we have a gallery opening on Friday which involves setting up Thursday and then going out to dinner with a long time friend whom I haven't seen in way too long, and then the actual opening on Friday, which means readily accessible snacks. I will eat dinner before hand and then I need to just circulate enough until all of the good stuff is gone! Eye on the prize for now.

    Having weigh in's on the weekend does make me want to be better on the weekends. I've decided that Sunday's are my "off" day. Just from the gym. I hope to still manage my steps with little walks throughout the day. But I needed one day a week to sleep in. I don't like to think of it as a "cheat day". Maybe one meal full of carbs one day a week or something will help me feel less deprived. You're doing really great!!
