Don't know where to begin but I better start somewhere

Sunday, January 10, 2016

My sleep is all messed up, however that is the least of my issues. I finally have health insurance, after many years of not having the means. Now I don't even know where to begin? I know I have to find a new doctor, since the one I had seen a few times does not take my insurance. The issues I have will probably require different doctors. So do I flip a coin on which to deal with first. Financials, will be another issue as well. I guess I want relief for my pain that seems to be shoulders and back as well as it.seems in my.knees. For a while I thought my knees and shoulders where from working out, but it just hasn't gone away. I did find out a get a Woman's visit at 100% which does include a mammogram, 1time a year. So that is a big help, because they aren't cheap. And my list goes on, as my OCD has been driving me up the wall. I just never can down enough, my mind that is. I'm back to decaf coffee, and I would say doing pretty good most days with my eating. Still working on my water intake, I've been experimenting with fruit in it.
So my big concern is the over all pain, which I am guessing it to be some form of arthritis. My dad was diagnosed with RA so that's a possibility as well. My hands struggle, with gripping, pain and stiffness. So I.just don't even know where to begin!!

I agree with ChuI58, start with a GP and let him or her refer you as they see fit. I have Sjogren's and osteoarthritis and see a rheumatologist, physical therapist, and pain/ortho doc.

Pain is something I believe will be a part of some of our lives as we age. We try to eat right, workout but still have pain. I've decided that it will not control my life and I will do what I can do and not be upset at what I can't do.

I was the same way. I didn't have insurance until just a few years ago. I am 58 yeas old. You should find a primary care physician. He will probably direct you to a rheumatologist for pain management. I have sjorgren's syndrome and fibromyalgia.
