Happy New Year! One week in & It's already awesome!

I had a great time celebrating the holidays with my family. Even though I indulged a bit (tea cakes, sugar cookies, & a few glasses of soda), I was able to still workout (despite the territorial boxer up the road, a treadmill that looked like it had been peeled out of a paper doll book, & unrelentingly frigid winds...after the storm blew through). My sister was my accountability buddy, so I was more than a wee bit excited when we had to retrieve her from the airport on Sunday evening (due to bad weather and cancelled flights) after just dropping her off a few hours prior. She wouldn't be able to fly out until Tuesday, which was, coincidentally, the same day I had to leave. So that worked out perfectly! After I got back, I was weary from travel and fell behind on my mileage, but have since gotten back on track.
The new year started with a sub 27 min 5k. Not bad for freezing! My second DietBet ended on the fourth and I won (amid circumstances similar to the first)! I was SO close, but it seemed like the scale was against me, but with only a few hours to spare, I made my weight and was able to submit my final photos. My winnings from the two dietbets total just I've $100. The bets were $55 ($25 & $30), so I made about $45! Not a bad return. I've decided to not do any more bets at the moment so that my body can adjust to being back in this weight range. I also want to work on composition in this weight range before I purposefully go any lower.
My first half marathon of the year is just a month away & I'm super stoked, but super nervous as well. I have yet to find and elevation map of the course. Although, it's described as a flat course, I have my doubts. I've been doing a bit of hill training with a little bit of elevation change, but nothing serious, so I hope I'm adequately prepared. Four more weeks to get my speed up and tweak my fueling schedule so I can PR this thang! Woohoo!
