6am and Already Feeling a Sense of Acomplishment

I use to run two miles, or more, nearly every morning. Then my kids started an earlier start school high school, needed reminders to wake up, needed rides, and my workout time became inconsistent. I have not gone out early morning to run in months, I think. I was having hard time envisioning myself doing it in my current state. My good friend suggested that I just get up, get dressed, and walk around the block. In ABA (I'm a behaviorist by day) we call this "shaping". We start with the smallest component of a task and reward it. When it's a mastered skill, then we add more later until we have entire desired result. So I'm conditioning myself just to get used to getting up and going outside. The distance isn't important. When this feels more like habit again and becomes more like second nature, then I'll throw in more distance. So yea! I got my butt outside and ran around the block on this cold rainy morning. I'm feeling productive and it's only 6am. This is how my snowball starts.. It's small, but rolling in the right direction.
