and I'm still hanging out on spark! yay!

i have a new computer, so no excuses for not blogging now. i really need to be accountable. i have more than 20 pounds i want to lose this year and i have a lot of personal goals that i want to meet or exceed this year too.

first off, i have regained 20 pounds of the 42 that i lost. mourning the loss of my Dad over 3 years ago. that started the fall. i finished it. can't blame everything on a dead person right? Dad would be pretty disappointed in me. i didn't stop, i just quit trying. huge difference. i put no heart in to the things i was doing.
ya, i was running, i was "fitnessing", i was existing. trying to maintain, but when you have a sonic blast in one hand and a spicy chick-fil-a in the other, the scale doesn't have much choice does it?

a few small accomplishments from 2015:
+tick ridge try 10k trail run
+mardi gras 5k
+running around downtown 5k
+ardmore shamrock shuffle 5k
-no show on the chickasaw trace 15k trail run
++certificate as a nurses aide (cna) and a part time job too boot. very part time. just a few days a month really.
+oak barrel half marathon
-no show heel and crank duathlon
+volunteered at the wet dog triathlon. Got sparked to get back in the TRI program
+run walk wag 5k
+church girls rv campout at waterpark with 6 young teens OMGoodness!
+Jesse Owens Memorial 5k
+remember the fallen virtual 5k
+wonderful family reunion
+bill dukes 7@7 7k
+volunteered for the Rocketman Olympic Distance Triathlon. got sparked in to signing up for this event for 2016
+sacred heart labor day 5k
+erv100/30m bike ride
+run for ella 5k trail run
+run the rolling hills 5k trail run
+upc life without limits half marathon
+volunteered for rocket city marathon

in addition to the fun stuff, i also had several funerals this year. lost some pretty wonderful friends and family members. seems like my circle is ever shrinking. have you ever met a person who didn't want to get married and have a family? i have. and now, they are so lonely. it breaks my heart to see people like that who have no one because of decisions made early on in life.

sometimes the simplest decisions have the most profound effect on our lives. we all have choices to make. lets make the best and healthiest choices that we possibly can. not based on the short term, but on the longterm.

what you do today could effect your life tomorrow in more ways that you could ever imagine. like that ripple in the water. when you throw that stone, what you see are the pretty ripples. what you don't see are the fish that were going to grab a bug that got chased off by the ripple. or even deeper, the cute little sea creature that got hit by that tossed stone.

what are you hitting and missing?

Hey girl! Hang in there - you have been an inspiration to many. Sometimes we need to rediscover our spark or get a new one. I hear ya on the losses. 2016 has been rough so far, and we just have to keep going to maintain our goals. Maybe even make a few new goals and be forgiving to ourselves. Take care!

Wonderful writing cousin! You have accomplished so much this past year! I'm envious of all the races you managed to do! GOOD FOR YOU!! I also have a high school friend who was enjoying the single life with a big career for so long. Now she is without a job and a plan B or C. She is lonely and so by herself now it hurts. It's so important to think of the bigger picture. You are so right!

You can be so proud of your outlook on life! LOVE AND HUGS cousin! emoticon Jane

WOW, Sheila, you have lots to be proud of having accomplished last year! You were very active. I know you can kick that Sonic Blast habit - or at least make them only an occasional treat.

Those are some profound words at the end of your blog - about the life decisions and the ripple on the water hitting and missing things. Gosh, you are one wise lady! You really got me thinking.
