It's COLD here all of a sudden! I missed out on running outside during a most BEAUTIFUL December. sigh.
I've had a lot going on here, not the least of which is that my hearing has been restored (YAY!!) but the implant I got has been unstable and I'm not allowed to run or do anything 'strenuous' for the time being. I've taken this as carte blanche to be a total slug and I'm feeling it! I'm stiff and sore and my energy is very low. After an 11 pound weight loss (because I was so sick/dizzy after my ear surgery), I was feeling much better but not so much now. I spent December working, mostly nights, and being very, very lazy at home. So my sleep patterns are messed up, I've been sitting for hours and hours every day and meals are all over the place. I've been able to avoid any takeout or junk food snacks that I used to rely on to stay awake, in favour of good meals and healthy snacks. (points for me!!)
Today begins my last stretch of studying for my nursing boards, which I intend to take in about 30 days, and I've decided to incorporate exercise into the study plan since I know it will help me learn better, and offset the inevitable sitting-pains I'm about to encounter. I'm trying to work out a plan that can be flexible for days I get called into work. Night shifts really throw off my mojo, so I'm thinking of how to manage this too.
Inspired by the Sparkpeople philosophy of baby steps and bite-sized goals, my plan is super simple for this week - 10 minutes' walking on the treadmill for every 60 minutes studying. I only have six hours while the kids are in school and I have to get errands and home stuff done as well, and I haven't worked out how this will all fit together I'll start with this 60/10 repeats and see where it takes me for today. I suppose I will need a chart... I'll try not to get side tracked with that task - lol!!!
