Declutter days

Sunday, January 03, 2016

The things that keeps flooding my life are papers and clothes. Newspapera and magasinezes tend to pile up waiting to be read, I have fortunately learned to trash them unread after a while, but I lack a strategy to stop them from cluttering up.

Same with clothes, my wardrobes are ill-designed and I have too many clothes that I donĀ“t use in my closets whoch means that the clothes that I do use i laying around...Now and then I organize and put clothes that I think I WILL want to wear away - but will I ever? Maybe, but then it might be more interesting to buy new ones - with all the second hand markets nowadays it does not have to be expensive to buy things I perhaps might need in the future ...

January is for decluttering, maybe my hoarding tendencies is a demontration of lacking in trust... what if I trusted life to provide the things I will need in the future...

I don't want to characterize my accumulation of clutter as hoarding, but I do see it as a trust issue. An improvement in my financial situation has allowed me to give myself permission to throw away some things I've been holding onto "just in case...."

    New habits have helped me.
Incoming papers are dealt with as soon as they come in. Ditto things to be read. Those read : recycled or passed on.
I'm fortunate on closet space so probably keep too many clothes. Switching warm weather for cool weather closets twice a year. But, I have been able to wear the same size for quite a few years now; a relatively new experience. I had a lifetime of holding and switching sizes instead of seasons!
Keep at all of it. My house is so much more comfortable now; decluttering is really a mood lifter in SO MANY WAYS!. Get rid of what you don't use! There's no better time than now! Hugs.

I'm an interior decorator who has organized many many homes in the past two decades. Just a suggestion, if you are seriously thinking about decluttering and to organize your home; why not hire a professional organizer just to consult and give you some brilliant ideas to clean out your home!!!!
