Winning is not an option

I think what I learned this holiday season is that I'm never going to actually win this battle over temptation, comfort eating, and weight control. "Success" is going to mean being healthy enough to earn the opportunity to continue the fight. I'm going to be working on this the rest of my life, and I need to truly accept that and get on with it.

What a wise thing to say! You have articulated the dilemma that most of us face, and while some might be discouraged by the bare truth, I feel that you are finding hope. Life is a struggle in so many ways, and perhaps the joy comes from fighting our way through to whatever modified victory it's in our power to achieve. I love this blog and will take these words to heart, as they express exactly how you've made me realize I feel.
