Winter Break = No Excuses for Missing Workouts
Saturday, December 26, 2015
I like the feeling, at 1:00 in the afternoon, of my body recovering from a workout. Ahhh... I just finished 3 miles on the treadmill and 15 minutes of toning exercises, made a smart lunch, tracked everything, and here I am blogging and making a grocery list.
Being on winter break is a luxury for us teachers. I have all the time I need to cook nutritiously, plan meals, and get my exercise in. The downside is that there is also time to snack on cookies, etc. But I refuse to consider these options. In fact, here are some of my "rules" for the week:
1. I can only watch "Breaking Bad" if I'm on the treadmill. I'm currently on Season 2, and I'm completely hooked. Since it's way too R-rated for the kids, I need to be on my own while watching ... which means in the basement rec room, you know, where the treadmill is. I watched nearly an hour today, which is why the workout got done...and I'm considering a leisurely treadmill walk later tonight to finish Episode 6.
3. Plan all meals and snacks before eating. This includes the grocery list that I'm working on right now. Tonight's dinner: Build your own burrito with slow cooker black beans. I'll be having a naked one.
4. Drink up! Lots of water. Water in the car, water while reading, water, water everywhere and every drop to drink! Flavor it, make herbal tea with it, but keep drinking.
