It's been a tough few days!

Sunday, December 20, 2015

It's been a bad week.

#1 First my couch springs broke, so I started looking for a new couch. Difficult because I had rotator cuff surgery 3.5 weeks ago, still have very limited use of my dominant arm. Planned to go today.

#2 I have been working on a project as a contractor for the past 3.5 months. Yesterday I calculated all of our expenses so far and figured out where we are financially with the project. I discovered I will only make a little salary, no profit.I may lose money which will come out of my pocket. The project was under bid by my partner and staff. Then learned my partner had an accident with the company truck.

#3 My hybrid car has a serious electrical problem, yesterday I learned the repair bill will be close to $1000 and not drivable until fixed. Can't get part till Tuesday. So I had to rent a car for at least a week.

#4 Today, Saturday, I came home and immediately smelled a strong natural gas odor. Got plumber and gas company out. According to the gas company tech, I have a "memorable" gas leak it is so bad. The gas company turned off the gas until it is fixed. My house was built in the 1950s and the copper (now they use PVC) gas line is run under my house slab. I need to dig a 2' trench run around my house and have installed a new gas line. The plumber can't do it until the Monday after Christmas. In the meantime (1.5 weeks) I will have no gas heat, no hot water, no BBQ grill (I live in So Cal and was planning to grill dinner on Christmas Eve). I hope my neighbors will let me use their shower, or I can go to the club. I can use electric heaters for heating (it has been quite cold this month).

It's been a rough 2 days to put it mildly.

On a positive note, I didn't get into an accident with my car, which I could have, I luckily came home and smelled the gas before my house exploded with the dogs inside. And the project is turning out nicely and maybe we can work quickly the rest of the time and not lose too much money. It could have been much worse! No one was hurt!

However, I am eating my frustrations! My husband died suddenly 2 years ago, I really could use his hugs right now!

Sounds like a horrible string of events. I hope things are better by now. My last year was pretty bad too. It took a while, but things did get better. I'm starting all over on my weight loss. I weigh more than when I started and I know that's not making anything better. I am determine to take care of myself - you too, okay?

Sometimes it feels like the whole world is crumbling, but things do turn around in time. I like that you were able to see positives within your troubles. About ten years ago, everything went wrong for me and I thought things would never change, but now I am happier then I have ever been. Hang in there and consider this a virtual hug from a friend.
