Things Have To Get Better

Friday, December 18, 2015

My mood has been low this week. Today was the worst. Earlier in the week I went to the dermatologist for eczema on my eyelids (yeah, I get it there once a year.) I also had a red blotch that has been on my face, below my right eye, for a couple of months. It went away and came back. While the doctor was sure that the eyelid problem was definitely eczema, he was not positive about the red blotch. He prescribed a cream. He said that if the blotch does not disappear in two weeks, he will do a biopsy. Blah...never good news.

The rest of the week has also been a bit of a disappointment. I bought a Garmin to replace my Fitbit. I loved the Fitbit but it was older and not holding the charge. I had Fitbit replace something earlier this year that was wrong with the Fitbit. They have great customer service. I thought that I would try a Garmin. They also have a good reputation. I was downloading and syncing it. I learned that the Garmin that I just bought, was actually a 2014 model. I paid full price for this. The battery was almost dead. The original batteries are said to last one year. Well, it did. But by the time I bought it the year was almost up. I had to return it. I got another Fitbit in exchange. At least, I know I have good experience with the product.

To add to my frustration, I tried to order an item, online, from Target with a gift card. The card did not work. I contacted Target and was told to screen print my message from the online service. I attempted to do so, and as I tried the computer crashed. Oh no, you have got to be kidding me, I thought. emoticon After quite some time, the computer was back up and eventually the screen shot was sent.

I could go on and on about my issues this week. You know, it's the week before Christmas...I need something positive to happen.

Thank you for bearing with my venting...

I hope that you feel better soon.

(I have skin issues too. Have had them for decades and can't seem to figure out why. Just had a big flare up on my chin. It's frustrating and I get even less confident and more reclusive when it happens. I've had eczema in the past. Very itchy. So I do sympathise with you.)

Ahhh...this is no time to have to cope with dermatology-related stress, and we all dread those occasional biopsies. If it's any consolation, I had a continuously peeling area on the inner corner of my left eyelid - it never healed. My dermatologist froze it, and the new skin was healthy. But unanswered medical questions have always been a nagging source of anxiety for me :(

Your page background is so beautiful - a lovely, glittery, festive design! I hope you have a restful and very happy, Merry Christmas, Linda! emoticon

Sorry for all your issues. But I must say that Fitbit has very good customer service!! My Fitbit One broke about two weeks after my warranty expired, but they replaced it anyway, no questions asked. Through the years they were very good about replacing lost Fitbits (not sure if they are good about the ones you wear on your wrist). My daughter recently lost her Fitbit at a 5K and contacted Fitbit because apparently people sometimes report it to them if they find a fitbit. Her Fitbit was actually found at the race, and the race director returned it to her. But in the meantime, even though she bought it two years ago, they gave her a link to save 25% on a new Fitbit One.

I hope your eyes are ok.

So sorry to hear about your lousy week :-( Things always seem to pile up, don't they? That blotch on your face is worrisome, hope it goes away and stays that way with the cream. I have never heard of getting eczema on the eyelids. I wonder what you could be reacting to there?
That doesn't sound good that the battery would only last a year on the Garmin. I have had my Fitbit since July 16 2014 and its still going strong with its recharge. The going rate for watch batteries should be five years (standard with no special features of course) I am hoping my Fitbit will last that long since its the basic model. Good luck with the new one! I got to confess, online ordering really doesn't appeal to me for so many reasons -having to put your personal information out there, credit card if buying and of course, shipping, which is always extra. Wouldn't it be easier to go to a Target near you?
I hope your computer crash was not serious..
You have had your share of misfortune. it would seem you are overdue for some nice things to start happening!

Hi Linda ... we all have some of those techno frustrations. I hope the new fit bit is a good one. As for the red blotch fingers crossed... that it is just a blotch. I know the prospect of a biopsy is unsettling. Hope that chocolate hits the spot! Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas and all the best for 2016. emoticon emoticon emoticon

As long as you have good health, all your other problems shouldn't be bothering you too much. Work on a gratitude list and you will feel much better. Happy holidays!

Oh that is a tough week indeed. We all have challenging times, and only too glad you can vent on here. Some days I want to just go outside and scream, but I live in town now, so that may not be the best idea.

Oh, Linda, I am SORRY that you had such a trying week

The eye thing is WEIRD because my BFF has had ALMOST the very same things. She also had a biopsy of a TINY black dot between her eye and nose. Her eye stuff is supposedly roscaesia. She has been to the doctor 3 times already this month! Both swellings on her eyelid (one at her eyelashes and another further up) got infected and had to be lanced.
