Knitting

Monday, December 14, 2015

My daughter Melissa (shes 16) is making baby blankets with me. She is a better knitter then I am even though I taught her how to knit. She can do complicated patterns like doing a lot of different directions in the same stitch. She's amazing anyway, works part time at the nursing home and she gets straight As in school. Her older sister Elizabeth has a lot of problems. Elizabeth knits but not very well and not very often. My youngest daughter Cassie wants us to teach her to knit. She is 12. I've really enjoyed working on baby blankets with Melissa. I have to find time to teach Cassie to knit. I also need to get my baby blankets done. I don't know how to spend any quality time with Elizabeth. I'm not even sure if she wants to spend time with me. I don't know if she wants to be included in knitting projects. Sometimes if I ask she says I know knitting is not for her and other times shes mad that I didn't include her or ask her to join us. I feel like whatever I do with Elizabeth is the wrong thing!

She will have an interest if it be. I am just learning to knit now. I am 74. My Mom was a knitter and at the time she asked me. I said no. I am in a knitting group. And the gals help me
as they are young Moms and Grandmothers so they are knitting all the time and help me. . I have 6 Grandchildren now adults. So my hobby was making them scrap books and making art for them and did journal's when they were small. There Moms did not do any. So I stepped in. Craft lady me.

Do try to keep Elizabeth in the loop, if she chooses not to join in that is her decision. This way you won't have to feel guilty about not inviting her.

Some people are like that.. She might not have an interest now but perhaps done the line... so do not give up on Elizabeth.

Teach Cassie now while she is interested.. and perhaps that might draw in Elizabeth.. but do not give up

Mom knits. She use to make very fancy things that won awards. Than she broke every bone in her right hand. The Dr told her she would get 15% use back. She was so upset, no knitting. She went to a therapist. The Therapist told her if she learned to knit she might make 17%. She was so happy she could knit again. She was slow, but taught herself again. Now she can make simple things, hats scarfs mittens things like that, but she has 95% use in her hand. Mom was 75 when this happened. I'm all for children learning to knit.
