Day 4 n 5 of N in the Hospital
Monday, November 30, 2015
Well Wednesday didn't go as planned N ended up having a tonic mild clonic seizure shortly before they where getting ready to release him.
Was asked to stay with him over night since I have such experience with his seizures. Didn't want to stay as I didn't have extra safe food with me, more extra insulin.
But I did say, got a large coffee triple sugar plus bottle of regular pop n siped them throughout the night, freaked out the duty nurse when she saw my glucose number as she was taking Ns vitals. Was at 2.2 so yes a tad to low for my own safety but still fuctional in my fashion.
She was like you need medical attention and I was like I'm fine ::couple gulps of regular pop:: just wish this hospital had safe food options, being allergic to dairy is annoying and being celiac is a freaking nightmare here.
She brings me from the stash gluten crackers and dairy cheese ::facepaws:: I say I can't do to allergies. but if she knows where I can get safe rice crackers and pb that would be safer. Ya no luck with that as the floor is a peanut/nut free zone.
So I just do as I do, stay up watching N and testing my glucose levels ever hour or less and keep chasing the low that is the result. Till 6am when Tim Hortons opens up and I'm still left unable to treat myself because they don't have safe options like other locations have so head to subway which is just in the process of opening n order a salad won't help treat the low but will put something into my system.
Checked the hospital cafe and that was a useless option no safe protein breakfast food option = by now I'm getting really annoyed with the lack of safe food options it's bad enough being in hospital and starving but this was taking the cake. I filed a formal complaint yet I don't think anything will come of it.
Thursday morning aroubd 10am Ns surgeon comes in and says he's free to go home! So we start waiting for them to discharge him which only took them 5 hours! So didn't get home til after 2pm, but home he is safe and sound.
