Spark Support Give And Take

Saturday, November 28, 2015

I have been reading blogs from my Spark friends and others. I find that our friends that receive a lot of support find more support. Others will come and go because they feel invisible or forgotten. After saying that, I also find there are some that mention their disappointment when others do not come to their page and drop off comments/goodies. This is just my opinion, but I do believe there has to be effort on the part of all Spark members to encourage one another. I have found that I do enjoy someone supporting me. I love to look at my Spark page and find that someone has taken the time to come by. However, I have gotten more Spark inspiration by dropping by another's page. When I drop by and see struggles of others or even progress by others, I learn more from their journey than I would any other way. My point is this, you get out of Spark what you put in. This is an enormous and wonderful site. Reach out to others. You will find this will help you more than you know.

By the way, I am plugging my NSV for the day. While I may not fit into the size 8 jeans that I want to wear, I did get a compliment today. A neighbor saw me after a few weeks today, she said I am looking slim. That is something I really needed to hear.

I have to remember this during our holiday season. I need to stay away from the sweets.

I also get more out of greeting others! I've been mostly away from SP for a while, but I always log in when I see that LINDA! interacted with me. :)

HmmMmM, much to think about early in the morning. This is my first visit to your page, and I am happy I landed here! I respect and appreciate the way you are thinking. I am newish to spark, a member for years yet only active since July. Clearly I have mixed emotions about all of this. Don't get me wrong, the site is wonderful; so many excellent resources, and literally millions of sparklers to connect with. In reading your comments, a common thread is reaching out to friends...and I appreciate that friendship takes time and means completely different things to each of us. Especially virtual ones, for this is a different dynamic. It is not necessarily easy to be new, navigate the site, and connect. Happily I am not phased by seeking out others' pages, for I have gained so much in supporting others and in turn receiving the sparks of others. I am still surprised by the numbers that can visit my page and never say a thing...like why visit?! Thanks for putting theses thoughts in the universe, you have a very bright spark. It is easy to see why others are drawn to it. Wishing you all the best, deb

Haven't weight myself recently but my belt has to have a notch put into it as the last notch is way too loose I discovered today.

It is give and take. Sometimes we do have to get pleasure from encouraging others even if few encourage us at times.

You hit the nail right on the head here dear sparky friend! I love to reach out and support my wonderful sparky friends and they in turn are terrific about supporting me.

If the world were a little kinder and people complimented each other sincerely when they think it...they should verbalize it.

I also think if you take the time to read a blog...take one minute more to leave a comment so your friend knows you came to visit them. Even an emoticon is an indication of support.

    Although...being a writer...I'm partial to words..heh..heh! emoticon

Great thoughts, Linda. What a great NSV and reminder to stay on track. I love reading and writing blogs. I need more active blogger friends! I agree, I get more insight and reinforcement by reading other blogs.

Great blog! I find my involvement on SP goes in waves and for some reason I stopped blogging last year..
The best thing about Sparkpeople is the interaction with sparkfriends - it's the people that put the spark in SP!!
Tank you for being my spark friend!

Thoughtful ,interesting comments. I do comment and blog but not often now that I am on the long haul maintenance phase of my journey. I have had periods when I blog every day and have tons of comments. I think Sparkpeople has been different things at different times for me and I love its flexibility.

I get around to all my friend's blogs, some of whom I wish would write something more often (hint, hint) to let me know how they are doing. But it seems I get more people commenting on my own blogs who are not on my friend list. Even after six years maintaining on this site, I still hang around because of the friends I have made and their interesting and varied lives. I love giving help and advice, but I am slow typing and thinking of what to say sometimes which makes it hard because I keep getting people adding me as friend. I dropped my old name because it simply became too popular and I felt guilty if I couldn't keep up with everyone. So I am quite happier with my lower profile. I have had so many say I am inspiring so I must be doing something useful here lol.
That is a fantastic NSV!! Congrats!! Keep up the great work!!

    I agree, Linda!

It only takes a spark to get a fire going,
    And soon all those around
Can warm up in it's glowing...

As you said, Spark is just like Life - or anything - you get out what you put in

Besides my friends' blogs, I periodically read random blogs. Most of the time I choose someone who is having a hard time and needs encouragement.
    Funny, thing.
After a while, I found that by encouoraging THEM, I am also encouraged!
You know, there is always someone WORSE off. It helps with one's perspective.
