New Challenges - Commitment Renewed

Saturday, November 28, 2015

I have spent the last two years dealing with some unexpected health challenges: bronchitis -which led to dehydration- which led to serious potassium level drops - which led to hospitalization, various extreme treatments to stabilize my levels --and which pushed me into the insulin dependent phase of diabetes.

I turned to SparkPeople to adjust my dietary needs to include things my nutritionist discussed with me. It worked well and my Dr. was very pleased on how quickly I had stabilized my insulin intake but within a year I ended up with bronchitis/pneumonia again...another hospital stay, and this time added oxygen to my round-the-clock medical requirements.

I worked hard to get off the oxygen, stayed on course with my diabetic controls --managed to get off insulin, but started working on quitting smoking --YET AGAIN. Enter SparkPeople to help keep me accountable to myself, and the charting and articles to help me stay motivated.

I'm day 43 on the quit, but I have let my caloric intake escalate --so back to charting my meals. I am so grateful that SparkPeople gives me a one-stop site to address a myriad of health and lifestyle needs. And the more I come on this site, the more I want to do well. --I may actually start going back to the gym :)

As General Chuck Yeager said "Press On". If you are looking to join a team focused on healthy eating (getting the most nutrition for the least calories) send me a spark note and I'll reply with a team invitation.

Yes, I know, I know, yet another spark team, but its one that I love and it keeps me connected and true to myself.

Congratulations on your 43 clear days, that in itself is a massive achievement but very necessary given your conditions. Keep up the fantastic work.
