Thankful. No matter our circumstances-there is someone out there much worse off. I've been, for years, when anyone comes to me complaining about no money, inconsiderate children/bosses, etc. responding with "It could be worse". Many look at me like "What are you saying"? Have asked that they take into account the person who would be happy to have whatever amount of money they have (small though it may be)or just think what your life would be if your child wasn't here anymore or had a substance abuse issue. Most have stopped and replied "You're right. It could be worse". We ALL need to stop, think and be thankful....IT COULD BE WORSE!
You are SO right! We do have so much compared to so many. And as a mother who has lost her only son...I tell every parent to hug their child close and give thanks for them every day. I also believe that 'your focus is your reality'...if you constantly focus on lack you get more of it. I do complain from time to time..but I keep a gratitude journal and write in it almost every night. If I'm consistent in this...I get blessings ten fold.
Your focus is your reality...yes it is! 929 days ago
So true! When my son was small & had to go to ER with asthma, to stay calmer I would think "It could be worse. He could have cancer or something not treatable". We should all be thankful for even the little things in life. Happy Thanksgiving 936 days ago
We take so much for granted, and even those with a tougher life than most don't realize how much worse it is throughout the world. Thanks for this reminder. Wishing you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving. 936 days ago
This is very true, we live in a world where it seems the norm is to complain.
I learned never to say "it can't get any worse" because it will. The last time I said that, 2 days later my house caught on fire. Lesson learned there and since then I am grateful for everyday I wake up with a pulse, because someone out there didn't.
