A fire and hurting my back.. again.

On Friday my best friend's house caught fire. She lives right around the corner from me and I heard sirens and saw all the emergency responders rushing to her street. There were so many and I got really concerned when they came and hooked up the hose to the hydrant across from my house. I texted my friend at work because I wasn't sure if it was her house or another, and when I was putting my shoes so I could go down there she called me crying that the roofer she had hired caught the house on fire and that her mother was there alone and that she was leaving work now. I told her I was on my way and I rushed out of the door, taking a pet carrier with me because they have three cats as well. I ran as fast as I could and when I got there I saw her mom standing on the front lawn screaming and crying, begging for the firefighters to save her cats.
Fortunately it looked liked the flames had been contained to the back of the house and had been taken care of quickly, but heavy smoke was pouring out of all of the windows, and I could see that the firefighters were tearing down the ceilings upstairs looking for hotspots. They were also inside of her neighbors house doing the same since the homes are connected. The neighbors got out with their pets alright. I was scared for my friend's cats but kept trying to reassure her and her mom that they were okay, that they are smart and would run from the danger and hide low, and since there were no flames and the fact smoke rises they had a wonderful chance of survival. Two cats were found safe within a half hour and I took them to my house, and after about three hours we were cleared to go inside. It was such a mess in there and I was crawling across the floor under beds as well as climbing over so much debris and clutter looking for the remaining cat. ( To be honest my friend is a bit of a pack rat.. so she's so lucky the flames didn't get further into the house.. It woulda went up like a torch.) The third cat was finally found safe under a bed, thankfully!!
I was so focused on helping them and looking for the kitty that I didn't even think of my bad back and how I should be careful. Though I didn't feel it at the time because of adrenaline or something I did hurt it again, so the past few days have been rough. I don't like complaining because I know I would do it again if I was in the same situation, but yeah... it sucks nonetheless. I'm just so glad my friend's family is safe. I feel terrible for them. But no lives lost is everything!
All this said, I haven't been able to work out and have fallen behind on my fitness goals for November. I am resting my back, doing some light walking, and am waiting to feel better before trying anything else. I will just focus on my food choices and try to make it through Thanksgiving without being a total glutton. lol.
I hope everyone has been well.
