2 years have passed?!

Monday, November 16, 2015

Hello all of my dear spark friends in the internet world.

2 years have flown by since my last blog post. I can't believe it's been that long!

Here's the summary of what's happened:
I started med school. I knew it would be hard, but never realized the mental stamina I would need! I'm in my 2nd of 4 years on the journey to get my MD. Being a single mom in medical school has been a challenge... It really challenged me the first semester and I reverted to not taking care of myself. I gained most of the weight I worked so hard to lose.

But in January I realized I can't take care of other people if I can't take care of myself. I'm down 30 pounds from January, joined a really good gym last month, and I'm back to my Spark-ey ways.

I am in a really healthy relationship with a really supportive guy. This has also been a challenge in med school, but totally worth it.

I've discovered so much about myself this last year. That I want to live a more normal life when I'm done with my rigorous training (surgery is not an option for me even though I do like it!), I am stronger than I ever thought I could be, and it is essential to take care of yourself above everything else.

I hope all of you are doing well!

Oh, and here's a white coat picture :-) Obviously overjoyed at the opportunities that have been presented to me!!!

Happy to see everything working out. Sorry school has been so tough on you, but I think that "right of passage" is worth it. Looking forward to seeing your future progress.
