Achy Legs Every Night?

For too many nights, now, I'd wake up with my legs just totally aching. All I had to do to make them feel better is get out of bed. Unfortunately, I wasn't getting enough sleep by the time my achy legs woke me up. I have to pass a physical every five years to maintain my driver's license. Other than that, I reserve doctor visits for emergencies only, so I considered the questions that a doctor would likely ask me. Most would likely be regarding diet and exercise. My diet is not bad, somewhat structured around my food allergies, but fairly healthy. I've been a personal trainer, so I'm quite familiar with the food guide.

Exercise? Too much or too little? Often the question. I am a fairly active person, so this consideration becomes a little more tricky. I have been very busy, lately, and though knowing full well the amazing benefits of strength training, have somehow missed out on doing much more than my daily work and chores. I decided that I need to do more lower body strength training to see if that helps.

I ended up doing an hour and a half bike ride, two days ago. A little bit of a shock treatment for my body, I had done a couple of two hour bike rides, early this summer, but little since then. My legs ached from the fatigue, that night, but last night, no more aches!!! Hooray! I mostly took yesterday off, after a good work out like that, rest is in order. Today, we have Remembrance Day service, and perhaps some walking, but I will try to do some strength training, as well, and then will continue to monitor my progress.

Why do I post this? I used to balk at the idea of strength training. Not any more! I encourage everyone who's able to give it a try - or get back to it if you're like me and let it slip from your weekly routine. I love for the suggested workouts that they offer! I'm not into buying, keeping, storing, hauling weights, at all, so I've looked through the body weight options and love them! :D Thank you, SP! :D You help even personal trainers stay on track - or get back on track when life gets in the way! It happens!

    and a not so happy update; achy legs woke me up again, way too early this morning. I've been pretty sick this week, so haven't been as active. I need to recover before I can do much else. :/

    just a quick update, I've been doing some of the SP suggested strength training for my legs, and it's really helped. I almost forgot about the achy legs - and it really wasn't that long ago!
