Don't forget to be awesome

Don't forget to be awesome today.

I made a list last night of the things I intend on accomplishing today. I am going to finish up every single one of them, because I want to, and this is the new improved me.

I admit to being a former procrastinator. Why do something today when you have another few days to get it done, and then on the final day, why not stress out and rush through everything to get it done. Completely ridiculous.

Don't I remember what I told my daughter about last minute homework assignments and how crazy I thought they were? Obviously, that worked for her, but didn't apply to me. Hmmm, yes, it does.

I now make a list for every day and try my hardest to accomplish everything on that list. It isn't a hard list, cleaning a room, maybe going to the grocery store or Costco, fixing something around the house, but the sense of accomplishment when I check that last box and have finished up everything is AWESOME.

Like most of you, i have a smartphone and have a list app. Not as satisfying as a piece of paper and a pen, and crossing stuff off, but more efficient, I guess.

Make a list today and accomplish everything on it. You will feel magnificent to complete all your tasks!

First item on your list: Don't forget to be awesome!

Spark on.

It is such a wonderful feeling to overcome procrastination-- I'm improving--Ha.
On a plaque in a gift shop was this saying:
---"If it were not for the last minute, I'd never get anything done." ---

Loved your blog. Sweetneey had an amusing sentence on her blog (I think it was the November 7th one) ..."resuming a stalled project" some how that just spoke to me . Thought I would share it with you. To me its a kindler , gentler way of talking to ones self.

If, at the end of the day, you don't know what you got done, then what did you get done? Seriously!

One of the things about this home renovation is that we have a clear idea of how long it will take to be completed, and we are right on schedule. If we hadn't had a list of what we wanted to have accomplished each day, I don't even want to think about where we'd be right now!

The same was true with our Si Se Puede event today. Our counselor Pamela was in total control, with her clipboard and list of activities, and we were as close to schedule as we could be with 150 people in attendance. It was AMAZING!

Everything in life is better when there's a plan and a goal! Let's get there together!

Great advice! I find, too, that if I SAY I'm going to do something today, I tend to get it done. I hate leaving things unfinished. Happy to be your Sparkfriend!

If it is good enough for Santa emoticon it is certainly a good idea for emoticon friends!

Seriously, I wouldn't make it through the day without my lists. Another list tip, never go food shopping without a list. It is a simple way to control impulse buying.

Loved this! I am a list-maker too. It helps me keep track and prioritize all the things I need to do, or want to do. I have a physical planner/notebook (no smart phone yet), and get a great feeling of satisfaction checking off the items on my list each day. If I don't get to something, I just reschedule it to another day. Some things are routine (daily/weekly chores/errands) and some are seasonal or connected to special events coming up. I also keep a running list for brainstorming things that I would like to do in the future. Thanks for this blog ~ I'm always curious about how other people do it!

    Great blog!!!!! Thank you!!!!
Yep, I know all about this blog very well. I don't have a smart phone, but I sit at my desk daily to come onto SparkPeople and Facebook.
But, do you think I can reach five inches further and pick up a pen and paper to make a very needed list of "to do's"!!!!
I wish I could say "Ta Da" and everything that is supposed to be on my list would just disappear or be finished, so I could relax about it.
    Have a great day!!!

I absolutely LOVE lists! I have been a list maker for as many years as I can remember. It was essential when I was working because I had to remember so many things between work, the kids, and home. Now I do it because, like you, it makes me feel like I've accomplished something!

I have a running weekly list and then I break it down to daily tasks. I am not typically a procrastinator, but there are some things I just really DON'T want to do - those things usually land on two or three weeks before I get around to them. Other things I find really didn't need to be done after all.

I will add "be awesome" onto my list today! Have a wonderful weekend.

Another excellent blog as it seems I have so many things I need to do today. It's going to be a juggling act but I think writing down is going to help....... great idea to help stay focused and then see your accomplishments as you cross them off the list........ and like you I will remember to be emoticon ...... emoticon
