My Sister!!

Tuesday, November 03, 2015

Yesterday my family had to bring my sister to a new home. She is 62 years old and she is suffering with dementia. She has been such a joy to us. She has down syndrome and over the past 2 years slowly getting worse. She is not far away from us about 20 miles but it is awful not having her here. She was a vibrant person, she was witty, she could knit and she helped with housework. My Mom lives with me too and she is so upset all she can do is cry. My Mom will be able to go have lunch with her at the day program. I will check in with the contact person to see how her 1st night went. I think it will be harder on us than on her.

My prayers are with your family as you work through this major life adjustment. I remember how hard it was when my Grandmother moved to a nursing home. Just keep in mind that you did this for your sister's good and her safety.
Give your mom some extra hugs today.
