Getting over the weekend

Tuesday, June 12, 2007

Hi, my hubby and I have a booth at the local flea market. We have been there for over 3 years. Saturday was hot, but Sunday was burtal. The temp was over 97 and the heat index was off the chart. We had a fan going, the doors open, but no breeze. I was soaking wet, but so what, it was keeping me cool. I walked all the way down to the produce area for my veggies. We decided all was too heavy for me to carry. Would go back with the car when we were leaving. I walked all the way back and sat down. My neighbor vendor came and got very excited when he saw my face, very red and I was sick from the heat. He soaked a towel in the ice water in his cooler and had me gently and slow wipe over my face, neck, arms. Doing this very sparingly began to cool me off and the sick feeling was going away. We had planned to go to one of my favorite resturant that evening, but I could not enjoy it. I had a very cool citrus salad with vingeretti dressing. Today I have moved more slowly and could not seem to get anything done. I had so much work in the kitchen, but I only managed to boil the fresh shrimp. The heat from the stove was staggering. I guess I will prepare everything in the crock pots for the next week until I can stand the heat again. O' well, I do have a lot of great recipes for it and I will not have to heat up the kitchen with stove and ovens. Out come all the special salad recipes that I have. As long as there is no heat, I will be able to handle it.
