Kittens/shoes

Monday, October 12, 2015

Boy, am I late getting at this today. I had to run to town this morning, stopped at the bank first to deposit a check and could figure out why no one was answering the drive in, and finally looked down and there was a sign that they were closed for Columbus Day. Duh!!!! Guess I don't have to worry about walking down the lane to get the mail either. Did have to pick up some groceries, hubby was out of milk again, and the "Boys" were out of canned dog food, and needed to get some kitten food for Oliver and Huck. And then off to the shoes store to buy me a good pair of everyday shoe, and yes, I bought the SAS shoes. So comfy, and he also said I made a heck of a deal last week end when I bought those new SAS shoes for $20. He said that style sells for over $150. They Had a sign on the window that said SAS sale, and I was as pleased as punch, and then he told me the sale was over Sat. but when I showed him the sign, he did give me the sale price, but they were still almost $150, WOW, I don't know if I ever [aid that much for a pair of shoes, they better wear well.

Well, the kitten saga moves on. Yesterday after I wrote my blog I walked outside to hang up some clothes and there was to cat I thought was the mother of Oliver and Huck with a little long haired orange kitten following her. Same size and everything, so now I know, but she would have nothing to do with the 2 little boys, just the little orange one. This one has really sore eyes, so brought him in and cleaned his eyes up and put him in the outside pen with the other 2, and kept checking and did see mother cat in there nursing him, but would get up and walk away if the other 2 got near her. So. guess I will continue feed Oliver and Huck. Oh, it is triplets, yes, the other one is a boy.

The guys didn't get changed over to corn yesterday, but should get the beans done today and changed over. That is always a good feeling, because beans have to be harvested with ideal condition, and corn can be harvested with more relaxed conditions. They can harvest with the humidity and the dew in the mornings, so it will be hubby leaving early in the morning and late nights. Now is when supper might not be until 10pm. Today, it is so windy that it about blows you off the road when you come out from behind a grove. We are under a wind advisory, but boy will that dry the corn. Good thing. Yesterday it got up to 82, and today suppose to be about the same today, and the rest of the week suppose to be nice.

Well, I had better GET at it, beings I haven't got anything done around here. Linda

Those SAS shoes are the best. I went to a podiatrist who told me that I need to invest in better shoes. I tend to wear the same shoes for five to six years! She says I should get new shoes every year and at least every two years!

What a deal you got on the SAS shoes! I wear them all the time because of leg/foot problems. I have never heard of ANYTHING for $20 from SAS!

    YAY for you! :)

Good for you getting shoes you really need! And also for confirming your deal last week!

I once had to take care of a newborn kitten and later when the mom saw her, she acted jealous of the attention I gave her (and the kitten was also jealous), neither one acted like they even knew the other... it had been probably three weeks or maybe four. Cats are weird like that. I wonder if they can sense on some level that they are mother/baby but just don't know what to do with that anymore because they don't recognize each other as that anymore? (Sorry if that's confusing lol). The mama cat probably didn't even "recognize" the two kittens as her own.

That's good that the beans should be able to be finished and that corn is more of a relaxed harvest!

I walked to the fitness center today. There's a middle school kitty corner to it, and I didn't see any students outside for gym class. When I walked past the elementary school and there were no parents, I remember it's Columbus Day. I won't be looking for mail. emoticon

Maybe that mama cat has decided that you make a better mother to her kittens then she does. Take care Linda!

That's so funny about the bank because I did the same thing! Our post office is across the street from the drive-thru, so as I turned the corner I noticed no one was at the post office. It was my lunch hour and I thought it was weird for the post office to have no customers on a Monday. Then I looked over at the bank and not a car in sight...it hit me! I'll have to go to the bank tomorrow I guess.

    Have a GET day!

    Linda,

WOW!!! I never knew a mama would ditch some babies and not all. I just learned something there.

It's good that the weather is finally in your favor, as far as harvesting the rest of the beans and the corn. I pray that it stays that way for you.

    Blessings!
