When I was 19 I fulfilled a diet and kept an OK weight for 20 years. Then I put 20 kg on at a long stay at hospital I have not been able to get rid of.
I simply took a very low calorie diet analysed it and supplied with the food that gave what it did not in order to get enough nutrition with as few calories as possible.
These days I am analysing the smoothie diet by Amanda Cross as I have used it and lost 4 kg in a week - It has some obvious lacks - like protein and fat -
I cannot use the food plans from Spark People as many of the suggestions cannot be bought in Denmark and quite a bit of food I do not like. So a food plan for especially me is a good idea.
Well being 19 and being 59 is not the same. Metabolism is low and I do not want to be all wrinkled.
THE COMPETITION PLAN...
I have an idea of a competition where it is not competition against each other - but with each other..
We make our own goals.
I have made a goal about loosing 1.5 kg each month - this will mean I get OK by August 2016 (BMI 25) . Of course there is no stop as I always have to be alert about exercise and food choices.
I have put down my goal on excel.
Every 2nd or 3rd month we exchange our results.
A. If everyone has succeeded we go to the cinema or other nice non-food activities.
B. If one of us has not we take a nice walk together or do other kinds of exercise and help the unhappy one setting more realistic goals
On thursday I will hear what the goal mate thinks - She likes to be the one taking decisions. Also I would like other local people to join our competition. One can say the goal is that everybody in our group shall fulfill - rather than just one of us.
And by not going to cinema or wellness or massage or a haircut or.... before everybody has fulfilled their own goal we will not get bankrupted
What do you think? What is your experience of competitions?
PS. I use Spark People nutrition plan to make the food plans with the smoothie recipes + the nutrition supply to get enough protein, fat, Calcium, B12 and vitamin D. I also take vitamins to get enough vitamin D. EATING A LOT IS NOT THE SAME AS GETTING ENOUGH NUTRITION - EATING LESS CAN GIVE ENOUGH IF IT IS THE RIGHT CHOICES.
