What's the big deal?

Thursday, October 08, 2015

Well, a little late again today, had to get several small things done this morning done before I logged on here or they would not have got done. So satisfied that I got those things done. Right now trying to get the laundry caught up, again. But you all know how that goes.

Well, I guess the news today has something to do with the Cubs, it is all over the place, so I have a question, What did they do? We are in no way shape or form into any kind of sports, so honestly don't know what the big deal is. My view of sports are that there is few people that can make a living at them, most of them are brutal and can have life damaging injuries, and they are so boring, watching people out there chasing, hitting, throw, kicking, etc. a ball around. I don't get it.
I don't want to offend anyone, I just don't get it. And it really upset me when they take my programs off the air for the damn ball game, don"t they have sports channels for that purpose.

Hubby will continue with the harvest today and I will work on a couple more flower bed, getting them cleaned out. Can't do them all at the same time cause I feed the refuge to the sheep and I don't want to over feed them. They really do make short work of it. I also should get at some book work again, the end of the year will be here before we know it. Also have the tree guy coming sometime this afternoon to let use know when he can cut down a couple of old ash trees that are more dead than alive and keep loosing branches. We have 8 of them but am just going to start with a couple a year till they are gone. Just to expensive to have them all done at once. Hope it wont be to bad, and need to know if they clean up or we have to and if they take the wood or not. I don't want it, we do have a very large fireplace, and it has been lit once in the 25 years that hubby has been here, and the time I lit it I had the house full of smoke before the draft started to draw, so never did it again. LOL so it is just a fancy rock wall that is great for background when taking pictures.

This is it for we today, and I hope someone will let me know the Cubs did.
You all have a GET day, mine is to GET at those flower beds. Linda

I like sports but hubby does not. I am a Kansas City Royals fan! I mostly watch during the playoffs - a little more exciting. Sometimes my mom and I watch sports together - kind of nice for us to do.

The Cubs are my Cardinals arch rivals and we will be facing off against them in the first round of playoffs. The Cubs are kind of joke because it has been like a hundred years since they won the World Series but they have some die hard friends. In the movie, Back to the Future, the Cubs won the World Series in 2015, so it will be funny if they actually win. I am hoping my Cardinals knock them out, but it could be their year.

The last time the Cubs won the World Series was in 1908. Anyone can have a bad century, but enough is enough. emoticon That's why the Cubs recent success is a big deal. There are a lot of people rooting for the Cubs including FOX. If they get into the World Series, the ratings will go through the roof.

You may have seen the movie "Back to the Future". Michael J. Fox was in it. The movie was supposed to take place in 2015, and there was mention made that the Cubs had won the World Series.

I get sports in some sense, but am not a fan of it... and also can't stand when they take over the shows I watch.

Are you ready for the change in the weather, yet? Girl you and your DH have been busting yourselves to get things done and in order.

If somebody carts off your wooden debris, please make sure that it's as dry as can be. I know, in MIDDLE, GA, where I live, when you take those things to the dump, they charge you by the pound, to dump it there. So. if it's wet, you'll be paying more.

Sorry Linda , I don't even know who the cubs are,but I hope you get your answer.
We are just covered with ads re our upcoming election,I will be so glad when it is over and done with, I really do not like all the dirt and nastiness politicians throw at each other, to my mind none of them are totally honest and make a lot of promises they are not able to keep. Sorry did not mean to rant , but it has been a very long road up to the election. I only hope we get the lesser of the two evils.
    Have a happy day. emoticon
    Hugs for the boys emoticon

The Cubs now have a possibility to play in the World Series. They last played in a World Series in l945, so this is a very big deal. They play several more games to see who finally will win and be in the position to play in the world series. Hope this helps.

When I watched Guiding Light I use to get mad too, when they would interrupt , so I totally get that .

I'm not into sports either, so I understand your frustration and I can't bring you up-to-date on why they are broadcasting on your channel...maybe playoffs or something - actually I thought it was football season, lol! Aren't cubs baseball?

It sounds like you're getting everything in shape for winter! We have a wood burning stove and we use it religiously in the winter to heat the house. It saves a ton of heating fuel costs for us. We have access to all the wood we need and it's good exercise because we cut, split and stack it ourselves. Can't get any better than that. My husband is the one who builds the fires though - otherwise, I'd probably fill the house with smoke too!

    Have a great day...trish
