Sophie's Wisdom and The Kitchen Whisperer
Wednesday, October 07, 2015
About a month ago, I had a chance to meet a dear friend, Heather, whom I haven't seen for over 20 years. Her teenage daughter, Sophie, is some sort of a horse whisperer. It was wonderful to see an old friend. To me it's as close to time traveling as you can get. Before I met them, I looked up the meaning of the name Sophie which means wisdom. It has become a very popular name.
A couple of days ago, out of the blue, the title kitchen whisperer came to me. It's drawn on me that my effort in recent years with bulk cooking and whatnot, I was striving to become a kitchen whisperer without knowing it. Without the correct words, the name, the goal, I really didn't know what I wanted to be when I grow up. So a gift of wisdom from Sophie, I learned something from the kid.
To me a kitchen whisperer is someone who gets the maximum results with the least amount of effort. The person may not cook very often, but seems to have food available all the time, out of nowhere like Manna from heaven. I don't consider cutting fruits or vegetables on a day to day basis as cooking.
For today's cooking session I was delighted to find duck fat in the fridge. I wasn't disappointed as the aroma of kale cooked in duck fat was out of this world. It went very fast as the gas stove is hot. 1 lb of Kale and 1 lb of spinach yielded 15 servings.
