Is There A Set-Back Number?

Friday, October 02, 2015

I feel like I am doing pretty good going through menopause. I am controlling my portions, maybe not so much my sweets but I am moving every day.

I listen to a lot of motivational speakers, you know like Tony Robbins or Dave Ramsey and Suzie Orman.

One thing that they all say about life is there is a "Set-back" number you revert back to in all areas of your life.

I always thought, NOT ME........I try to learn new things, change things up and be open to growth.

But then I saw this............
5/30/07 Fat% 27.7
5/30/07 BMI 22.0

12/1/08 Fat% 21.3
12/1/08 BMI 20.9

6/12/09 Fat% 21.7
6/12/09 BMI 20.0

11/5/10 Fat% 23.9
11/5/10 BMI 20.7

4/25/11 Fat% 24.3
4/25/11 BMI 21.0

2012 Menopause!

1/4/13 Fat% - 27.5
1/4/13 BMI - 22.5

6/1/15 Fat% - 27.0
6/1/15 BMI - 23.0

I am EXACTLY where I started 8 years ago!

Only I know the answers.....did I slip back to comfort and that is my comfort place? Yes. Did my finances to the same thing? Yes. The loss from the stock market, and helping my sister by saving her house put me right back where I was in 2007.

Ugh! I must push forward, push past this, dig deep and strive to break the chain of the set-back number.

Have you ever heard of this?

Hmmmm... my thought goes along these lines: while you might be back to 2007 "numbers", where would you be if you didn't go through 2008-2015? The fact that you are consciously and consistently exercising portion control and moving daily has put you in a place where you are living an overall healthy life. I think you NEED to give yourself credit. That said, I find it helpful to reflect and keep "pushing foward" as you say. You got what it takes to get to where you want to be- it might just be one of those "where do I want to be and what I am willing to do to get there" kind of conversations with yourself and then able accept the honest answer.

I am sorry that you are realizing this... but I do believe in this concept! Your body/life always goes back to where it's comfortable and happy!!! Not always a bad thing, sometimes it can NOT be helped, but outside factors cannot always be controlled!

    XOXO

You WILL get back to where toy want to be! Positive thoughts and even more positive actions! I am in the same boat with you!!! Forward we will go!!!
