ready, ready for anything!!

it's a line from the song that the Royal Rangers sing at their meetings. my husband sings it a lot around the house. I sing just that one line. don't know the rest. but I can tell you that "I am ready, ready for change!"

I have the power to change myself and only I can do that, nobody else. I have set a few goals for myself this month, and a few leftovers from the first of the year.

1) weigh 150 by the end of the year. well, if I had started that like I had originally intended, I might be there by now. instead, my weight has been going up, up, up. and my flab has been growing too. I am up to 175.2 as of this morning. that is 15 pounds over my goal weight that I had reached more than 4 years ago. I am not doing a great job of maintaining. emoticon
if I were to lose 8.3 pounds a month, I could be at 150 by the end of the year. I think that is a bit overboard. I do think that 160 is reasonable though. that was my original goal weight. that's 5 pounds a month.
I'm going to give it my best shot.

2) read the Bible in a year. I'm a slacker on that too. I fell behind when I went back to school and work at the beginning of the year. I'm really working to catch up though.

3)Love Dare Challenge. its 40 days. I've done it before and I'm going to do it again. I need to do it. I find myself struggling with my husband on a daily basis. that has got to stop.
today is day one. say nothing negative to my spouse. done. it was a good day.

4) quilt daily for at least 1 hour. I am getting paid for this quilting job, and I really just need to get a move on it. it took about 3 hours to get it ready and loaded on the frame and there is about 3 hours of quilting on it right now. and yes, about 30 threaded needles.

5) daily fitness. I need to get up and do this every morning before I sit around and have my coffee. I did that today. I got in just over a 4 mile WOG. it took right at an hour. I have a half marathon on 10/31. the Life Without Limits. I did it last year with a boot cast on my right foot in 3:25.29. I'd like to beat that this year. at a 15 minute mile that will put me at over 3 hours. I don't like that one bit. I hope I can get the lead out of my legs!

tomorrow I will do some yoga and spend some time on the punching bag. I need to work on all areas of my body, not just on my running skills. besides, I don't want to run every day. I don't think it is healthy for my feet. if weather is permitting, I will get on my bike for a few laps around the block.

6)I'm going to blog more often, for accountability. maybe every week or every 2 weeks. not sure which yet. I have a temperamental computer, so even logging my food is an issue. which I am NOT logging food on Spark because of that, but I do record all of my food in a journal and count my calories there. it works. it saves me a lot of frustration.

    Wow! Way to writ4e it down and make yourself accountable. I need to do the same! I have faith in your ability to get get it done. I love that quilt! I would hate to give it back after all that work lol! emoticon emoticon

    Sheila, it's never too late to start again! The time is going to pass anyway. Might as well pass it being accountable.

    I have never heard of the movie Fireproof or The Love Dare. What a cool idea! Even though Harry and I aren't married, I wold like to do something like this with him. We don't see each other every day, though. Can we still do it? I guess it would be pretty easy not to say anything negative to Harry when I don't see him that day. Maybe I answered my own question.

    Beautiful quilt. Such a gift you have. I have always admired handmade quilts. Heck, handmade anything! My Mom used to knit the most beautiful sweaters, baby sweaters, mittens, and afghans.

    Sheila, I know you can accomplish your goals. Just like you are going to check in daily on your Love Dare, check in daily on your other goals, too. Not that you have to blog about them daily, but just check in with them. I can't tell you how that is helping me to stay on track.
