Oliver Twist & Merlin

Wednesday, September 30, 2015

Here is little Oliver Twist, not the best picture but he wouldn't stay still to have it taken. As you can see, he is not very old, but he sure is active and noisy. He now will take 1 tablespoon at a feeding, today is 2 full days I have fed him so I think he will survive, but you just never know. Merlin was in yesterday when I was feeding him and put him down on the floor to get some exercise and Merlin be-lined it for the door and wanted out. He was having no kitten taking refuge in his hair again like with Merlin Kitty last winter. Animals, you just never know.

I am taking the sugar challenge and it has been a reminder of how much sugar is in our processed foods, it is no wonder we are an obese country, that and the fact that so many people don't cook anymore, they just open a box, or grab something from the freezer, and pop it is the over. I am so glad I love to cook and know what I am eating. I am not fat from packaged food I am fat because I love to eat wholesome food. But fat is fat, no matter how you get that way. m My problem is I am use to dessert with supper, and that has been hard, but now I really watch my portions, staying with half servings of dessert. But I won't know if it helps cause I haven't weighted myself since the 5th of Sept., and it feels so good, not to be chained to the scale.

Hopefully hubby and BIL will be able to get back in the field this afternoon. Ended up getting .4 rain, so they had yesterday off. Maybe today I can get some of my bulb dug. The calla lilies are starting to turn brown so I can get then dug. The cannas and the begonias are still blooming so they will have to wait until it freezes. I had better go out and pick the tomatoes again today and see if I can a few more pints, did sent home some jars with s2 the other day, so at least they aren't going to waste. He says chili isn't chili without moms canned tomatoes.

Hubby was just in to grab the check book, he has to go to the farm store and get a new gas cap assembly for the fuel wagon. It is cracked and dirt could get in the fuel tank and that would not be good. I had better sign off also and GET at something, mainly breakfast. Linda

The kitten is adorable! They definitely do not stay still once they're a little mobile lol, makes you sympathize with a momma cat who has 3+ babies. I know when my nephews started getting mobile, scooting/crawling/walking it was tough... especially with a not quite 2 year old and a 9 month old crawling (and subsequently finding many things to put in his mouth and possibly choke on). Handfuls, all kind of babies are handfuls!

Cute kitty! My friend on the farm took the little one who showed up at our store that I bottle fed. We need a little more rain here, getting dry.
I love to cook too. I gained weight from eating too many mashed potatoes and gravy! HA!

Oliver Twist is adorable, Linda! I am so happy to know that there are compassionate people like you around. God bless your for taking care of the little critter!

When I first started paying attention to the sugar in products, I was flabbergasted! emoticon To say the least! Since I got educated, I view sugar as pure poison!

God bless your Larry & you, Linda!

I do not blame Merlin one bit!!

We had rain yesterday, but it has not started yet today,,very dark, cloudy, 58 degrees, more like November than September..
I did not can tomatoes this year,,They want $20/bushel at the fruit market,,,
just froze beans and broccoli, peppers.
I still have freezer jam left over from last year..

What a cute little kitty!!! Yes, there's added sugar in just about everything. I'm looking out the window into the garden and seeing a lot of ripe tomatoes. I better start picking them. Have a great day Linda!!!

Little Oliver Twist is so cute! I am enjoying the 21 day sugar challenge. I guess "enjoying" might not be the best word, but it is making a big difference. It is not easy, but it has helped a lot to see that I was eating sweets because my hubby was. It is shocking about processed food!
    Linda, have a great day!

It poured down hard for 24 hours here... and our farmers are doing the happy dance. It's been very dry, all harvest is done. Little Ollie's a cutie for sure. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'm doing the Whole life Challenge and like you, reading many labels to avoid sugar. It's crazy how much sugar is in so many places I would never expect.

That is one cute kitten! I'm so glad you're willing to be his Momma - he's very lucky he was found by a kind heart. Feel free to send that rain to West Texas...we're still very dry.

I love to cook too, and I make chicken spaghetti sometimes and it simply is not as good if you don't have home canned tomatoes! No garden for us this year because of the drought, but I'm hopeful for next year!

    Have a emoticon day!
