Beck Trek - Chapter 9 - Day 32 - Prepare for Travel
Monday, September 28, 2015
I have weeks vacation coming up in October. We like to go to Vegas for Halloween.
What? (I see those raised eyebrows!)
We have family there...we go to visit the FAMILY!
No more questions please.
In December we are taking the grands for a surprise trip to Disney.
I typically gain 5-7 pounds during vacation week. Yup. My strategy has been to tackle it head on the minute the vacation is over. I've found that the longer I let it hang around, the harder it sticks. I can return from vacation with my clothes fitting fine. And in a few weeks my clothes will be tight even if I haven't gained any MORE weight on top of the vacation gain.
For these two trips I'm going to use the Beck strategy of allowing myself a few hundred calories more per day. I will keep healthy snacks and bottled water (lots of water...and I will drink it too!) in our room. (We'll have our own transportation so we can hit the supermarket.) I will limit my meals to two per day and split meals with hubby when I can. I will remember that sometimes just a taste is enough to satisfy. I don't have to eat the whole thing. I will be very selective with my food choices and I will not be afraid to ask for foods to be prepared specifically to suit my preference.
On both trips I know we will do a LOT of walking. On the Vegas trip hubby and I typically include some scheduled runs, and we plan to head for the mountains at least one day for some hiking. I read that a typical Disney visitor walks 13 miles per day.
And there will be lots of dancing. Oh wait...I wasn't supposed to say that.
Running, walking, dancing...and having fun! They all sound so glorious!
You've got a good plan going and honest, I know exactly what you're talking about your clothes getting tighter as time goes on...It's like the extra food switches from bowels to hips an thighs or something!!! Yikes!
