Beck Trek - Chapter 9 - Day 29 - Resist Food Pushers

Friday, September 25, 2015

I've witnessed major food pushing at work this week. I know people aren't out to purposefully sabotage others who are trying to pursue a healthier lifestyle...but sometimes I wonder....

I am a tuff gal when it comes to the food pushers at work. I made up my mind long ago that it is my business what I choose to eat or not eat. Beck gives good advice on how to politely turn down the food pushers. Do it enough...and eventually they won't even ask.

My boss uses food to reward and recognize his staff...it's the American way of the workplace.

He is a dang good cook. He barbecues for us twice a year. He puts a lot of effort into it, so I always have a little. Some serious ribs and brisket.

But I pass on the annual pancake breakfast, annual blueberry muffins...and countless KK doughnuts and cinnamon buns.

My hubby likes to offer me food too. He wouldn't offer me something high in empty calories. He knows better than that, but he doesn't get that any unplanned food that I eat has to be accounted for....even low calorie healthy foods. I know he is just trying to be nice and I am polite about it...but between you and me...it can be annoying.

Here's a little ditty I came up with...I sing this in my head to the tune of "Heartbreaker" when I am confronted with the food pushers...

Food Pusher (to the tune of "Heartbreaker")

Your food is like a tidal wave, spinning over my head
Drownin' me in your excuses, better left unsaid
I'm getting' thinner, living my inner fantasy
And I am the winner that I know that I was born to be

You're a food pusher, ambusher, butt kisser
Don't you mess around with me
You're a food pusher, ambusher, butt kisser
Don't you mess around, no, no, no

Your food has set my taste buds on fire, burnin' out of control
You tempt me with the ways of desire, but it's not takin' its toll
I'm getting' thinner, living my inner fantasy
And I am the winner that I know that I was born to be

You're a food pusher, ambusher, butt kisser
Don't you mess around with me
You're a food pusher, ambusher, butt kisser
Don't you mess around, no, no, no

I'm getting' thinner, living my inner fantasy
And I am the winner that I know that I was born to be

You're a food pusher, ambusher, butt kisser
Don't you mess around with me
You're a food pusher, ambusher, butt kisser
Don't you mess around with me

emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'm okay with it if you want t borrow it....if you do...be sure to crank it out Pat Benatar style...

Sounds the same for me at work, once a month is birthday donuts, once a month we have the local weiner cart come in for a picnic (bosses in laws), at least once a month there is a lunch meeting, training class, company in the building.. I try to stay away or plan ahead. Good luck and best wishes

I love yofur song. It is great. I face the same thing at work. More and more junk food put out. Food is a way to celebrate..but most people only want unhealthy foods. At a recent potluck i out a healthy green salad down. Few people ate it.

You are doing a great job of standing up to food pushers.

Great Job by the way...my hubby is the same way.

He is the cook here. And since he came back from Cali - the 10 lbs I lost re-found themselves on my belly...
