potlucks and buffets UGH

Thursday, September 24, 2015

I read somewhere the top reasons for losing weight listed below. What are my personal reasons? Peace and empowerment. I want peace in my life. Nothing rattles my cage like begin forced to do something and feeling powerless in situations. It gets me riled up and ready to fight or retreat. How this translates into my weight loss journey. I avoid parties and social situations whenever possible that have pot luck / buffet of food. I have yet to master being at peace with healthy choices and not sneaking over for treats / second helpings. How do you navigate potlucks and buffets? I really struggle here.
1. For better health
2. To look better
3. To have a better mood

I get rattled the same way.

I have just been avoiding buffets, I haven't learned to cope there yet, and have a problem with grazing what I like. I just try to stand as far away from the food at parties as I can.

It makes sense those are the top reasons people give to lose weight. For me, I guess it's...
    1. to regain control of my life and stop feeling helpless and reactionary
    2. to be taken seriously at work
    3. to remove limitations (physical activities and clothing options and travel?)

I stay away from Restaurants that offer a buffet.

I don't usually have problems with a pot luck, since there are so many foods I don't like...even a lot of desserts don't appeal to me.

The problem I have is grazing at the things I do like...

So, if you ever find a solution to this, please let us know!

    1. Feel better
    2. Health - high blood pressure, high cholesterol, A Fib
    3. Being able to do more fun things

I usually eat salads-veggies as much as I can. Then the space for the heavy food is terribly reduced.
    1. Being healthy
    2. Feeling good
    3. Looking good to myself

    (About the same!)
