Tomorrow is Day 30 of Whole30 Challenge

So I was encouraged on the Whole30 challenge to write a little "After Action Report" or AAR. emoticon

Question #1 What went well?

After 29 days of eating clean: no grains, no dairy, no sugar [including stevia and xylitol], no legumes, and absolutely no artificial anything [not even gum], I feel amazing! I sleep for 8 hours and I'm ready to hit the floor running. I don't even have to set my alarm--my internal clock wakes me up--RESTED!

I am alert and focused on the tasks at hand--I have been SO fuzzy-brained for so long, that I can't even tell you how good this feels. I'm not 100% back to those "before menopause" productive days, but I'm getting there! emoticon

I have NO heartburn! What a BLESSING!!!!!

I'm not suffering from just a down-cast feeling, but I'm mentally ready to face the challenges.

I had two emotional days during this Whole30, and thankfully and amazingly I DID not turn to food for comfort--I can't believe I didn't eat chocolate for 29 days!

Towards the 3rd week, I started being more organized and chopping and partially cooking some of my veggies for quicker meals. Also, cooked up 3#'s of ground beef at a time with onions, peppers and garlic and froze in individual baggies.

I've learned to love coffee without anything to sweeten it. I made homemade almond milk and added that to my coffee, then added some ghee and coconut oil and blended until frothy! YUM!

And I've enjoyed some AMAZING food these last almost 30 days!

Question # 2 What could have gone better?

I could have changed things up more with my food. I felt I was in a bit of a rut towards the end.

I think it would have been helpful to have the book: "It Starts with Food" and I'm happy I got my copy today so I can have it for the next round.

Better at checking labels. I bought Applegate bacon and it had sugar in it. Now I'm using Paleo bacon and it's SO good with absolutely no sugar.

Question #3 What will I do in the future to keep doing better?

Well, for now, I'm doing another round.

For future, I think for now I might need to stay gluten and dairy free because of my Hashimoto's. I love the way I feel, so part of me doesn't want to change anything, but this is not a diet you do forever. There is a transitioning back to certain foods, and I have yet to read about that.

I weigh on Thursday and hope I have a good report on that end. emoticon

SO excited that Bonnie is joining me on the next one! Anyone else interested in doing a Whole30? The more the merrier! emoticon
