Giving something a try

So I'm a fat geeky guy who up until that last couple years have had no interest in exercise and fitness. I still hate the idea of exercise for the sake of exercise it seems like there is no fun to be had at the gym especially for a big kid like me, I also struggle with keeping myself motivated to exercise I go really good for a couple weeks to a month and then i just lose interest. so this what I'm going to try, I'm going to try and blog on here and hopefully people read it and that having readers may be enough to encourage me to come back to the site more often and use it.

So first up I want to talk about my ideas for being active through play, I don't Just mean playing one of the motion activated video game consoles either for instance on my Phone I have Zombies Run! both the original game and the 5k training version, as well as the augmented Reality Game Ingress both of which i like to use to go outside and "play"

Now I think this idea appeals to me so much because you don't see kids going to the gym to stay active they stay fit through play and they don't even realize that they are exercising and that is what I would like to find away to recreate. so far the games on my phone have been helpful, however i can't help but to think there is more I can do than some games on my Smart Phone. if anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them.]

my goal is a way to get some more exercise and have fun while doing it and maybe even find some kindred spirits looking to get into better shape with out burning tons of time at the gym.

    I'm going to make an assumption since you are self proclaimed as "geeky" it is a given that Lord of the Rings is a staple. What about the Walk to Mordor challenge? Adding up your miles whether they are walking, cycling, swimming, etc to your journey. 1,779 miles is all it takes to destroy the ring. You can find a breakdown of each leg of the journey to make it more manageable.

    Fun post. Does anyone really like to exercise? Okay, there are those few but not many. Most of us do it because we don't want to be fat anymore.

    Playing definitely sounds better than exercising! I'm personally trying to keep up with my dog. She has far more energy than I do and I'd really like to be able to take her on walks and be able to keep up with her.

    As far as for being a geek... *high fives you*

    Are you watching "Fear the Walking Dead"? Don't you just want to shake those people??? LOL

    Kids obviosly have the right idea. Exercise shouldn't be stressful...should be a least a little enjoyable. emoticon

    I got my iPad on, daydreaming about some 'hot guy'from World of Warcraft. Dancing in my head, all the machines. 2mo later no weight loss but clothes smaller. Hide in the ride. In my own way. Nobody is a geek. All are special in our own way!

    These sound great. One thing I like to do is play music that makes me want to move, even if just play "air guitar" or just jump around for a while.

    Great idea. No stress about exercise when you can just go have fun playing. What are your ideas for being active and playing that we can incorporate into our daily free time?
    What came to my mind was chasing a frisbe, kick ball with a friend, bike riding, tossing a ball back and forth while walking on a trail......I will be looking forward to your next post.
