I have suddenly forgotten how to swim....

Tuesday, September 15, 2015

I have not forgotten how to swim, but I might sit in the pool and look for a while, if these hunks were standing by the side of it!!

Alas, they never are, but I get my swimming in all the same. I have started to go to the YMCA pool later, at like 7 pm, because there is nobody there, and I can have quiet, swim as long as I like, it is good for me, and so relaxing.

I was wondering last night, how I am going to feel, coming to the pool in the Winter, when it is 20 below zero, and snow is everywhere, and I have to put on full regalia (snow boots, coat, hat, gloves) just to leave the house. I decided that I would still go swimming, as the YMCA is well heated, and they do warm the pool a bit in the Winter. I think I will feel even better, that I got there and did it!!

Because I am swimming for 50 minutes now, and like every minute of it, I decided that I will not ever stop swimming.

I am not big on looking back, but I did wonder last night why I never continued swimming, when it was such a big part of my life for so long...I was a lifeguard, and a good swimmer. My family had a pool the whole time I was growing up (we lived in L.A., EVERYONE has pools there).

No matter, I am doing it now, and I have no time for regrets, or what ifs. A few people have started that with me, and I stop them in their tracks. Don't let ANYONE lead you off your path. There will be detractors, who will be mad that you are so successful. Let the haters hate. You KNOW how well you are doing.

I know how well I am doing, and I am going to keep swimming.

Spark on.

Jane, you are awesome beyond words. I used to love the water, but I've never been much of a swimmer. I love to tread water, float, dog paddle. I love doing back somersaults through the water, and in a shallow pool, the occasional handstand. But the water is awesome, and it was so important to me when I was healing after the accident.

I'm so glad you have the Y so close to you to use and enjoy. All that swimming will give you amazing results, and it's exactly what you need.

    Spark on, Jane!

Swimming is awesome. I was the same way. I quit because I got an ear infection, but I found some silicon moldable ear plugs that keep the water out. I also love it so much.

YOU WILL DO IT (in the winter)

I lived in Chicago area for YEARS and went to the Y and swam at night after work a couple times a week. My friend would join me too .. sometimes, and I do admit it was more fun when she was their. So that would be my advice.. find a buddy if you can.

    Keep Sparking.

My mother, sister and I used to go swimming at the local Howard Johnsons Hotel pool. Also went in the winter! We lived in Maine where it gets pretty cold and the roads are piled high with snow. Something kind of fun being in that nice heated pool and looking out at the snow. We would hit the hot tub after and then get a hot shower before we put on our survival gear and headed home. Enjoy!!!

I wish there was a place to go swimming here in the winter. In the summer it's the lake or creek.

Oh yes! That is some eye candy there!

I am so envious of your being able to swim in the evening! With school back i session (No lifeguards!), our city pool is closed except for weekends! (and tourists are THICK!) I should be searching for another choice, but haven't found one yet...

There is Nothing quite like swimming!
