Six months til 60yrs old

Me, at 181.2 lbs on 9/13/'s my half-birthday.

I had thought that after being on SparkPeople for the past 8.5 years that I would be at my goal weight and maintaining for several years now. That hasn't happened. Life threw us many curveballs along the way and I have let emotions and stress control my eating and exercise habits.

Today I realized that there are only 6 months left until I turn 60 years old. I'm actually feeling a little down about this as I'm tired of being overweight, out-of-shape, and not feeling my best.

So I've decided I need to do something about it. No changes can occur in my body, mind, and spirit unless I make those changes and stick with them.

I need a plan.....a plan I can stick with.....

Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water per day emoticon

Exercise 5x per week (Cardio and ST) emoticon emoticon

Allow treats/desserts 1x per week emoticon

Cut out/down on snacking (salty and sweet are both problems)

Cut out/down on fast food (another downfall)

I've been reading up on different diets/eating lifestyles and for right now I believe the best approach for me is to return to the South Beach Diet way of eating. That has worked for me in the past and I feel it will be a good jumpstart to get me headed in the right direction.

Plan meals ahead of time and allow for leftovers to take to work for lunches (not having food to take to work is when I rely on fast food to fill the void)

Track food/snacks/drinks on SparkPeople Nutrition Tracker daily (needed for accountability)

Check in with teams I am on at least 4x per week and become a more active participant on them

Read motivational blogs, SparkPages, books, etc., to help keep me focused along the way

Current Stats:

Height: 5' 5.5"

Weight: 181.2 lbs.

Total Inches: 211.5 (includes bust, waist, hips, right thigh, left thigh, right arm, left arm, and neck)

My Goal: Lose 25 lbs., I believe this is doable.

I'm posting this blog to hold myself accountable not only to myself and my goals but also to my many SparkPeople friends/family/teammates who have been there for me with support, motivation, and encouragement.
