Treat day

Saturday, September 12, 2015

I made it through an entire work week sticking to plan. A kind Sparker suggested a few days ago that perhaps it would help to allow myself one treat each weekend. Since I know going cold turkey with no end in sight is a recipe for failure, I thought I would try this. So I have had a few ounces of goldfish crackers. My treat for the week - so now it's back to the plan.

The kid has a birthday sleepover tonight, so it's time for a grownup dinner. It's a treat to cook something without having to think about whether or not a picky kid wants to eat it. I am going to make a cioppino - will need to grab a bit of shellfish and fish at the grocery. Real fish instead of tempting little crunchy ones!

Oh, it took me a minute to figure out that the birthday sleepover was at somebody else's house. Whew! What a relief! Even when we love our kids and enjoy hosting activities for them, isn't it great when somebody else does the same, so that we can have a chance to think ONLY of ourselves?

I hope your cioppino (which I'm going to have to look up) turned out well and that you and "the hub" (love your term for him) enjoyed a quiet meal and maybe some pleasant veg-out time together.
