Day 16 of Whole30

Wednesday, September 09, 2015

I can honestly, from the bottom of my heart, say that this fajitas salad was EVERYthing I love about Mexican without cheese, sour cream or grains [tortillas or chips]. I honestly feel my taste buds are singing right now.

Sautéed venison, mushrooms, carrots, asparagus, zucchini, onion, red, orange and yellow peppers in coconut oil. Place on top of a bed of greens with cherry tomatoes, avocado and black olives. Homemade extra hot salsa with extra cilantro. Yum, yum, yum!!!!!

Yesterday was a ROUGH day, but I have a NSV! I've always been an emotional eater! Yesterday was not a great day. My 9 and 13 year olds both woke up with fevers of 101.6 and 103.0; was able to start lessons with my older son [16], but had to cancel my tutoring appointment. Then I had to be on the phone for close to 2 hours with Apple because our brand new Airport Extreme router doesn't work which means that we only have one way to use the internet--plug directly into computer. They aren't shipping the new one until tomorrow so that means we are internet challenged until Friday [with school this is a real pain!]. And lastly, and most heart-rending of all, my father in law was in the ER and is on his final days of life. ;-(

But through it all, I didn't turn to food to comfort me! I wanted to! I cried some tears! But I didn't use food as a way to soothe my pains! Great feeling!

Thanks to you ALL for your amazing support and words of encouragement!

{{{{huge hugs}}}} Susan

You are a strong person; any one of those hardships would have sent me for chocolate! I appreciate your computer problems--mine are with a wireless printer that won't connect, but mine is just a matter of convenience not school.

So sorry to hear about your father-in-law's condition; I send prayers for God's strength and comfort to your family.

emoticon I was just thinking today that if I could just set a schedule it would help me with my eating & choices & stress, and so on. But I know life usually plays out differently with the unexpected happening more often than not. ...So I prayed that I would be ready for the challenge(s) when they arrived, and trust HIM to hold my hand through whatever He will bring my way.
"Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life."
