NECESSITY IS THE MOTHER OF INVENTION

Tuesday, September 08, 2015

Two months ago I got food poisoning from Chinese take-out scallops. Since then I have lost 20 pounds! I have been struggling and am finally on Flagyl and even though I was sick all weekend, I did lose close to 3 pounds. I think I am finally winning over this bacteria even though I will see a specialist on Thursday. I gave myself a hernia from the violent spewing I was doing on the first round of food poisoning and I am thinking that the hernia is causing my food not to digest. I have been told to go on the BRAT diet whenever I get into a bout of vomiting and diareheah. That is Bananas, Rice, Apple, Tea & Toast. When I start feeling good, I introduce additional foods but then find I eat the wrong thing and set myself off with another bout of vomiting and diareah. Not fun, not a good way to lose weight. I am at work today and tomorrow and going to the specialist on Thursday. Then, I am heading to Boston to see a good friend who is facing dialysis. I am hoping I do not get sick on my trip so I am being very cautious about what I eat. Today, I am sticking to the BRAT diet. Maybe tomorrow, I'll feel brave enough to introduce a little protein.

I gained 20 pounds after my hysterctomy two years ago but now I have lost that and want to keep it off. I have learned during the ordeal of the last two months that I can actually live on less food than I ever thought I could. I am hoping and praying that even when I am better i will be more in control of my diet and continue to restrict sweets and fats as I am pre-diabetic and have high chloresterol

Thank you for reading my blog and have a good day.

Sorry you were so sick. My husband had a white diet for a while - only white food when he had an attack of norvovirus.

I almost died from scallops years ago and don't touch them but I know many people love them. I take a probiotic supplement daily also to keep gut bacteria at bay.

Blue berries help diareaha maybe add those to you menu and chicken soup is also good....maybe just the broth and when nothing else stay down try some warm oatmeal.

    Get better soon! emoticon

It is amazing what can happen to our digestion and the lessons we learn from such an experience.
